Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an incredible tool…if used appropriately. As a business etiquette expert, I see the value of genuine, positive connection between humans, and how AI has the potential to help or harm the workplace. In today’s blog post, I’ll discuss what AI etiquette is and how professionals can better understand and integrate AI into their jobs.
What is Artificial Intelligence and Etiquette for AI?
AI must clearly be defined as non-human, meaning it has no soul. A soul is man’s treasure and gives the human a great advantage when it comes to reasoning and problem solving.
AI Etiquette is defined as “the ability to execute responsibility in how we interact with AI and how we allow it to interact with us.” We must set boundaries with AI and not allow it to interfere with our personal relationships.
AI in the Workplace
- AI should always be used in the capacity as an aid in the office, law firm, banking industry, educational setting, when writing content etc.
- Always reveal when and how you use AI.
- Check the accuracy of any content, photos or other data received via Artificial Intelligence. All information used through AI should be validated through documented research.
- Always get consent when using AI for data-gathering purposes.
- When using AI in your workplace, make sure all teammates know about your AI usage.
- Always be professional when using AI in a work setting. Avoid using slang or a casual tone in your interactions with AI.
Remember, strong connection with your colleagues is essential for your own healthy emotions. Eye-to-eye contact will always be the most effective way to communicate.
AI in Your Personal Life
- Never spend time in a relationship with AI. Artificial Intelligence is not a counselor, nor can it serve as a partner in a healthy relationship. This is where the danger begins, and we as humans must stay in our lane.
- Be aware that AI is biased and is often trained on biased data, where unfair decisions can be made.
- To use AI responsibly, you must monitor your usage of this tool, be accountable and understand that it makes mistakes.
Remember, the reason I’m addressing this topic is because AI cannot replace the human soul. Our souls enable us to have empathy and judgement. AI etiquette is about connecting the human being with a machine. Transparency when using AI is the key for maintaining trust in relationships.
Innovation must be partnered with connection. Connection can only occur when two or more humans interact. While AI offers advancements beyond imagining, we must approach it with a clear understanding that it does not and never will replace mankind. When this occurs, our world will explode with innovations.
